This must have been one of the best battlefields for many years, lovely undulating terrain with trees and hay mounds giving cover to musketeers and cavalry. It certainly was appreciated by the Public as you could hear them cheer for the side they wished to win, needless to say it was a Royalist victory, just like the old days.
Newcastles did a good job with this event and its crowning glory has too be that the main battle took place along the crowd line.
Living History encampment was a bit sparse on numbers though and could of been more organised with a military section adjacent to the Village area, thus ensuring the visiting public did get some idea of what went on where, rather than the hotch pot of tents.
