Mud, mud, glorious mud, there's nothing quite like it for ..........
I'd promised to come and take photos of this event and what an event. First of all I missed the turning onto the A30 coming up from Exmouth so a little detour later we wended our way through yet another single track road to the event at East Chelborough.
Parked up and walked to find the spectators area. Downside of which was it was down a steep bank and had a very limited location to take decent photos but and it is a big but, the racing was fast and furious when the track was relatively dry. Problem for the riders but great for my photographs was when the heavens opened and the rain came, making some areas of the track slippery, so slippery it was hard for people to keep their feet let alone stay on their bikes. One I commented on rode his bike like a child rides a balance bike to get up the hill to cries of encouragement from those watching.
If you were one who dropped your bike in the mud, then I admire your tenacity as many of you tried and tried again even though you were shattered.
It was a challenge some riders didn't quite make and I pity those who were watching who could lip read, but I'd of said something similar myself, ok I did when I needed help to get back up the hill out of the spectator area.
Great organisation, the commentator made me giggle more than once, the light hearted banter was a joy to hear.
If you would like an e-copy of any of these photos just use the Contact Page on the website with the number on your bike and I'll send what I have. NO CHARGE. I come and stand in the pouring rain or blistering sun to take photos of people enjoying their hobbies because in the main people will smile if they see themselves, or something they like in a photo.
