A surprise spur of the moment decision after seeing a poster tied to a lamppost as we drove by and then checking to see what is was all about on the wonderful internet. So at 2.30pm Wednesday 22nd June we decided to put the sun hats in the car and tapped in the postcode to Little Silver Moto Cross Circuit.
What a surprise, as having searched for Motor Sports events since I've been in Devon as I hadn't come across this venue before. Looking remarkably similar to the Practise Track in Somerton where I learnt to hate little 50cc 2strokes when my youngest had the little bleep nearly 35 years ago, it took me back to some great memories.
Just lately I've been photographing Classic Scrambles which I really do enjoy as age has no barrier to either rider or to the bike. One gent I had the pleasure in photographing who asked for copies is 76yrs old, still riding, still loving the challenge.
But back to the Patchquick and the really experienced riders taking part. Dust, dust, dust, leaps, leaps oh and more leaps as both riders and bikes took a pounding. Great racing and wow such a great crowd, something I haven't seen for years. I do go back a bit. ;-)
First race and I haven't a clue who was who as everything was covered in mud, after the track had been heavily watered to lay down the dust. And so it went on with the track drying in the very warm conditions and the dust beginning to cover anything in its way, including myself.
If you do recognise yourself or any of your family, mates or just plain colleagues in a photo and would like an e-copy F.O.C. please just copy and paste the photo into an email and I can send you a hi-res version suitable to print.
There are a few 'arty' ones, which do appear a little blurry these are deliberate as it's a style I have been challenged to take by a friend who is a Professional Photographer. Oddly enough this is a style qquite a few Interior Designers are wanting, no idea why but once I'm challenged I do give it a go.
