What was expected to be a hard game was just that when WTFC played Shepshed FC in what can only be described as a balmy September afternoon. Exceptionally evenly matched the game flowed from one end to the other with neither side dominating the game when to the delight of the home crowd young Stevenson headed home a beautiful goal.
Sadly the game then degenerated into what can only be described as bully boy tactics from Shepshed with there players tripping themselves and calling for a foul, then grinning like a cheshire cat as player wearing shirt number 8 got away with it or the deliberate kicking that appeared to be the way there number 3 won possession.
One of WTFC was sent to the sin bin for remonstrating with the Ref who at times failed too see a foul committed as with all Refs a trip to Specsavers could have been mentioned a few times.
Once Shepshed equalised and then took the lead there was a lot of time wasting by them which went unnoticed by the Ref . I suppose in this day and age calling foul and time wasting are part of the game but honestly all it really does is spoil the greatest Team Game there is.
One thing that was very noticeable was that the lads in the WTFC team kept their heads up and played well right up until the final whistle went, something to be very proud off.
However, please keep in mind this is my own opinion and I've been keen on football for over 60 years.
